GTA 6 Release Date: When Is GTA 6 Coming Out In 2026?

If you have been waiting for GTA 6, there is finally a date you can put on your calendar.

Grand Theft Auto VI is scheduled to release on November 19, 2026.

Rockstar Games has confirmed the date, along with the first launch platforms. GTA 6 is coming to PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. A PC release has not been officially announced at this time.

The wait for GTA 6 has been long. Fans have spent years waiting for the next game in the series. Now, the release is getting close.

But how did we get here?

Let’s look at the GTA 6 release date, the delays, platforms, pre-orders, and what happens next.

When Is GTA 6 Coming Out?

GTA 6 is scheduled to launch on:

November 19, 2026

This is the current official release date from Rockstar Games.

The game will launch first on PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. Rockstar’s official GTA 6 page currently lists those platforms.

So if you are planning to play GTA 6 on console, the date to remember is simple:

November 19, 2026

That is when the new adventure in Vice City and Leonida is scheduled to begin.

GTA 6: Everything You Need to Know In 2026

Was GTA 6 Delayed?

Yes.

GTA 6 was not always planned for November 19, 2026.

Rockstar first announced GTA 6 with a 2025 release window. Later, the company moved the game to 2026.

Rockstar then confirmed the November 19, 2026 date in November 2025. The company said the extra development time would help the team finish the game with the level of polish it wanted.

For fans, another delay was disappointing.

But there is a good side to waiting for a game like GTA 6.

Rockstar has more time to fix bugs, improve the world, polish missions, and make sure the game is ready before launch.

Nobody wants a rushed GTA game.

Why Was GTA 6 Delayed?

Rockstar has not given a long list of specific reasons for every development change.

The company has, however, explained that the extra time is being used to finish the game and reach its desired level of polish.

That matters because GTA 6 is not a small game.

It has a huge open world.

It has two main characters.

It brings players back to Vice City.

It also expands the setting across Leonida.

A game of this size has a lot of moving parts.

Cars, characters, missions, animations, physics, AI, sound, graphics, and the open world all need to work together.

That takes time.

How Long Until GTA 6 Releases?

As of September 4, 2026, GTA 6 is scheduled to launch in a little over two months.

The release date is:

November 19, 2026

This means the wait is now much shorter than it was when GTA 6 was first announced.

Rockstar has also moved into the pre-order stage, which is another sign that the launch is getting close.

Of course, a release date can always change in the game industry.

But unless Rockstar announces another change, November 19, 2026 is the date fans should follow.

What Platforms Will GTA 6 Be On?

At launch, GTA 6 is announced for:

• PlayStation 5
• Xbox Series X
• Xbox Series S

Rockstar’s official information currently lists these platforms.

The game is being made for current-generation consoles.

That is important because GTA 6 is expected to push the hardware much harder than older GTA games.

The trailers already show a detailed world with busy streets, beaches, vehicles, buildings, wildlife, and large environments.

Is GTA 6 Coming to PC?

This is one of the biggest questions from PC players.

For now, there is no official PC release date listed by Rockstar.

The current official GTA 6 information lists PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S.

That does not tell us what Rockstar may do in the future.

It only means that PC is not part of the currently announced launch platforms.

Rockstar has released major GTA games on PC in the past, sometimes after their console releases.

But until Rockstar officially announces a PC version of GTA 6, it is better not to treat rumors as confirmed news.

Can You Pre-Order GTA 6?

Yes.

Rockstar announced that GTA 6 pre-orders would begin on June 25, 2026.

The game is available in different editions, with the exact contents depending on the version.

If you plan to pre-order, make sure you check the platform and edition before buying.

It is also worth remembering that pre-order bonuses and edition details can change.

For the safest information, check the official Rockstar store or your console’s official store.

What Is the GTA 6 Release Time?

Rockstar has confirmed the release date, but the exact local launch time can depend on the platform and region.

Digital games can sometimes become available at different times based on the store or region.

Because of this, it is better not to rely on random countdown websites for an exact launch hour.

The one detail we can say with confidence is:

GTA 6 is scheduled for November 19, 2026.

When Rockstar or the platform stores provide more details about the exact launch time, those details can be added.

Where Does GTA 6 Take Place?

GTA 6 takes place in the fictional state of Leonida.

Its most famous location is Vice City.

Vice City is returning from the older Grand Theft Auto games, but this time it is a modern version of the city.

Rockstar describes GTA 6 as a journey through the state of Leonida, with Vice City at its center.

The world also includes areas outside the main city.

That means players can expect more than tall buildings and busy streets.

There are beaches, roads, waterways, rural areas, and other parts of Leonida to explore.

Who Are the Main Characters in GTA 6?

GTA 6 has two central characters:

Jason Duval

and

Lucia Caminos

Jason and Lucia are at the center of the game’s story.

Rockstar says they become caught in a criminal conspiracy that stretches across Leonida. Their situation forces them to rely on each other if they want to survive.

This gives GTA 6 a different feel from some previous games in the series.

Instead of following one main character, players will experience the story around a pair of criminals.

Their relationship is also one of the biggest parts of the game’s mystery.

What Is the Story of GTA 6 About?

Rockstar has not revealed the full story.

But we know the basic setup.

Jason and Lucia live on the wrong side of the law.

An easy job goes wrong.

Things then become much more serious.

The pair finds themselves in the middle of a criminal conspiracy across Leonida. They have to work together to get through it.

That is where the story begins.

There are still many questions.

What exactly went wrong?

Who can Jason and Lucia trust?

How far will their criminal plans go?

And what will happen when their problems become bigger than they expected?

Rockstar is keeping many of those answers secret.

Will GTA 6 Have Vice City?

Yes.

Vice City is a major part of GTA 6.

Fans who played the original Grand Theft Auto: Vice City will recognize the name, but GTA 6 presents a much newer version of the setting.

The city has modern buildings, busy roads, beaches, nightlife, cars, boats, and many other details.

It also sits inside the wider state of Leonida.

That makes GTA 6’s world more than just a remake of the old Vice City.

It is a new chapter in the same fictional location.

Will GTA 6 Have a Big Map?

GTA 6 is set across the state of Leonida.

However, Rockstar has not provided one simple official number for the total map size.

That is why you should be careful with websites claiming that the GTA 6 map is exactly a certain number of square miles.

Unless Rockstar confirms the number, those figures are estimates.

What we do know is that the game includes Vice City and other parts of Leonida.

For players, that may be more important than the exact number.

A good open world is not only about size.

It is about what you can do inside it.

What Can We Expect From GTA 6 Gameplay?

Rockstar has not revealed every gameplay feature yet.

Still, the trailers and official material have shown a lot.

Players can expect an open world filled with:

• Cars
• Motorcycles
• Boats
• Aircraft
• Beaches
• Cities
• Rural areas
• Wildlife
• Criminal activities
• Story missions
• Different characters
• Shops and locations
• Roads and waterways

The world is also designed around Jason and Lucia.

Their story and criminal activities will take them across different parts of Leonida.

Will GTA 6 Have Online Multiplayer?

Rockstar has not fully explained its plans for GTA 6’s online experience.

Because of that, it is best to avoid treating online rumors as confirmed information.

GTA Online became a huge part of GTA V, so it is natural for fans to expect a new online experience.

But there is a difference between what fans expect and what Rockstar has officially announced.

Until Rockstar gives more details, we should wait for confirmed information.

Is November 19, 2026 the Final GTA 6 Release Date?

Right now, November 19, 2026 is the official release date.

Rockstar has already moved the game from earlier release plans, so fans naturally wonder if another delay could happen.

Nobody outside Rockstar can promise that the date will never change.

Games can face unexpected development problems.

But there is currently no official announcement of another delay.

So for now, November 19, 2026 remains the date to watch.

GTA 6 Release Date at a Glance

Rockstar’s current game information confirms the November 19, 2026 date and the announced PS5 and Xbox Series X|S platforms.

What Should GTA Fans Do Before Release?

There is still plenty of time to get ready for GTA 6.

You can learn more about Vice City.

You can follow the story of Jason and Lucia.

You can explore everything Rockstar has shown about Leonida.

You can also keep an eye on official announcements as the release gets closer.

Most importantly, do not believe every GTA 6 rumor you see online.

There are thousands of rumors about the game.

Some may turn out to be true.

Many will not.

A good rule is simple:

Confirmed information comes first.

If Rockstar has announced something, we can treat it as official.

If it comes from a leak, fan theory, or social media post, it should be treated differently.
